MA-2: Emphasizing opportunities to enhance quantum sensing using highly controllable quantum systems including atoms and spins coupled to optical cavities, and strongly correlated materials. Scientific goals of MA-2 include exploiting quantum memory and transduction for non-Gaussian state preparation that enhances quantum sensing applications, formulating and implementing new paradigms for detection of infrared light and frequency conversion using strongly correlated materials, probing quantum many-body physics using spin ensembles coupled to optical resonators, and formulating new methods for characterizing coherent dynamics and noise in quantum many-body systems.
